Week 5
In class this week, I gave you a chance to talk about all the recent protests and fighting that is going on in the Middle East. We learned about which countries are in the Arab world and looked briefly at what is happening in countries such as Tunisia, Egypt, Sudan...etc. I think most of you guys don't know very much about what is happening there so I gave you time to research one country which you will do a presentation on next week! Please click on the following link: (NewYorkTimes) to find out more information about the NY Times Website I used in class. On this website there are many different links, and multimedia (videos, maps, pictures..etc) which you can use in your presentation. I would like each group to use some props (pictures, maps, pictures...etc) to make your presentation more interesting! An idea is to make a timeline which shows all the recent events that happened in your country, that way other students don't have to write a lot during your presentation! Other information about your country can also be included in a class handout.

Week 4
In class today, we talked about "Twitter" which is a social network where you can "tweet" to all your "followers". Using this site, you can also follow other people who you are interested in the same things you are! I hope you all sign up for a Twitter account so we can practice using this great tool! We also talked about what is happening in Libya. I gave you a chance to talk to your classmates and write down "things I know", "thinks I want to know", and "things I learned" about this topic. I think many students didn't know very much about Qaddafi or what started the revolt in this Arab country? Hopefully, next week you come prepared to talk about this breaking news! Don't forget to find me, on Twitter and send a tweet using #TylerCA so everyone can find it! Talk to you soon!

Week 2/3
For the past couple of weeks, we have talked about the recent earthquake and tsunami that hit Japan. I think we had some interesting discussions about the damage the earthquake caused especially to the nuclear power plant, and the safety concerns of the Japanese people have who are living in that area.
I look forward to hearing some of your opinions in the forum which I posted on my website about the Japanese people's reaction to the recent catastrophe in their country.
See you next week!

Week 1
Hello everyone!
It was very nice to meet all the students in my Current Affairs class today! All of you made a very good first impression on me and I'm really looking forward to teaching you this semester. I hope you all enjoy my class and improve your English at the same time!
During the semester, I will be keeping this blog for your class to keep up-to-date on everything I'm doing in class. Also, I can post things like videos which will help you understand my website and other technology!
I know some of you are better at multimedia (especially computers) than others so if one of your classmates is having a hard time understanding, please help him/her ok?
In our first class, I asked you to sign up for my website (http://tylereslclass.info/). I think it is a little difficult so I want to help you by posting a video. To view the video please click here.
After you sign in, I also want you to edit your profile and upload a picture. I made a second instructional to help you do that too! Please click here to view the link.
